According to them, junior high school must have taught dance to students since this spring, and modern dance ( for example, hip hop ) is very popular. Did you know that?
To be frank with you, I'm against forced dance class. I wonder dance is so fun for some students, but too hard for teachers. Some of teachers have never learned dance. They must go to dance school to teach with confidence. Dance will make their lives harder.
But dance is so exciting, I know. It is good that some students can choose dance class. I want dance class to be unforced.
How do you feel this news?
This is an interesting news story. I agree that it is tough for students and teachers. I think dance teachers should be hired to teach the classes (as part-time teachers). Then the students would get better lessons and the regular teachers could escape this duty. I would like to know the reason why this kind of class was introduced. Can you explain in your blog?

Thank you for your comment! I agree with you. In fact, I was taught by part-time dance teachers (except usual PE teachers) in my high school. I could learn dancing well.
DeleteWhy this kind of class was introduced… As long as I read it, there are 3 reasons: learning how to express in dance (with their body), improving communication through dance, and finding enjoyment of dance. But I guess it is also the other reason that many students take dance lessons outside school because dance is so popular with young mothers. And dance doesn't require larger space than baseball, soccer and so on. It is suitable for urban school which cannot have a large site.

I think dance class is very good for high school student to express their feelings, which are sometimes very involved.Dancing and making effort to express by their own bodies could help them to put minds at ease, I think. But, there are some problems to solve, as you know. If the problem of dancing skills of teachers is likely solve, I affirm this decision without any hesitation.

When I was high school student, I was taught dance in class. I was not good at dance but it makes me fun. I think dance is both term and an individual sport so we can enjoy with friends and personally.
ReplyDeleteI think this project makes it possible for students to extend their view of the world. We were often forced to do something by school curriculum. At first sight, it is not good because we can't choose to do something that we want. Of course it is good to choose what to do by oneself, but only by oneself, the view of the world is not extended. We should experience many kinds of things in school either good or not good for oneself.
But you know it is too hard for teachers. Teachers couldn't cover any kinds of lessons by oneself. So I think not only dance but many kinds of specialists should be invited in school.

I think that dance is very wonderful. And it is good experience that high school students was taught dance. But, I think that an important thing is experiencing various things in high school. Therefore, I agree if the student experience other things.
