Blog#9: A Special Place for me

Ya, I'm Haruka. Let me introduce my memorable place. It is Toyama, a Japanese prefecture which faces the Japan Sea and has a lot of mountains. Have you ever been there?

These pictures were taken in Keyakidaira, which is the end of the line for Kurobe Gorge Line ( Kurobe Kyokoku Tetsudo in Japanese ). You can see how beautiful Toyama's nature is. I like Toyama because of its greatness. It told me power and awe of nature.

And Toyama is the first place I stayed alone. I had never traveled by myself, so I was nervous at that time. But Toyama is so calm that I didn't feel nervous. There are not too many people, and they don't hurry like Tokyo people. Its calmness is the best point of it.

When you have a chance to go to Toyama, feel its greatness and calmness please.

Blog#9: My Hometown

   I'm Yoshiko.
Today, I introduce my hometown, Mitaka.Though my father are often transferred, I have lived here for 16 years. In here, I went to elementary school, junior high school and high school. I spent school life in Mitaka so I have a lot of friends in here. And this is beautiful place I think. There is Inokashira park around here. I often take a walk in Inokashira park.
It is famous that Mitaka has a Ghibli museum. The way to go there, we can see Ghibli characters. The street to go there is my favorite place to take a walk too. There are various trees, for example, cherry blossom, a hydrangea, a ginkgo, a fragrant orange-colored olive and so on. I can enjoy taking a walk all year around. Recently, I feel a good smell about a fragrant orange-colored olive in there. This is my home town. I love here.

Blog#8: What is FUTURE

I'm Haruka. Let me introduce a new style performance I saw last weekend.

I went to see a performance my friend participated in at Yokohama with my sister. The performance "NO FUTURE/YES FUTURE" was held by Dristers Summer School that is a class run by leading teachers and passionate students. Students are divided into four groups - dance, building, clothes, and advertisement. But they don't have a producer. In other words, all of them are producers, so their performance includes not only one idea but every idea. A performance we have never seen was born because it is very difficult and troublesome to make something by everyone.

It is not a play or a musical. Dancers don't play their own roles and there is not a hero or a heroine. That puzzles audience, "What is happening?", because it is a new style performance. I don't know how to explain it. But I think it is "a story which don't have a hero", that is, "a life". Future is a Life, I think so through "NO FUTURE/YES FUTURE".

I could have an exciting time. If you want to know it more, please check the site.

Blog#8: A Trip to Paris part2

Previously, I introduce 2 places to you, Monet’s house and The Petit Trianon. This time, I talk to you about 1 place that is the main of this trip for me. This is essential to study the western art of history.

The most impressive place of this trip is the Louvre Museum. It was the other one of my dreams to visit there for a long time. I wanted to look “Venus de Milo”,” Mona Lisa” and other wonderful works. And I wanted to look the most in the Louvre Museum is “Winged Victory of Samothrace”. When I was a high school student, the teacher whom I respected for show me some pictures of” Winged Victory of Samothrace”. (We usually call this “Nike”.) It was so beautiful, so wonderful, that I was impressed.
In Louvre, I was very excited. I looked “Nike” about 5 times and took photos a lot. Of course another works are very beautiful and I was impressed. All a day, I was in that museum (I think my family was bored to death with me.)

In Paris, I visited some other places, Musée d'Orsay, Musée de l'Orangerie and so on (the picture is Musée d'Orsay). But next time, I want to visit more and more places than this time.

Blog#7: A Trip to Paris part1

I’m Yoshiko.
This summer I went to Paris with my family. I visited many famous places, for example Opera National de Paris, Montmartre, Notre Dame de Paris etc. Today I introduce my favorite places of Paris to you.

First, I went to a village, Giverny, where the famous painter Claude Monet had been lived. In his house there are many Japanese Ukiyoe prints that are Monet’s collections.
And there is a garden which is the most famous subject of Monet. Probably almost all of you have looked paintings of this subject. It was one of my dreams since I was 14 years old to look a garden of Monet’s house. So my one dream comes true. And this picture is a pond of a water lily.

And the other picture is The Petit Trianon in The Palace of Versailles. It was very pretty place like a world of “Howl's Moving Castle” which is the movie of Studio Ghibli. In here, I felt as if I were in that movie.

Blog#7: Birds Welcome

Hi, I'm Haruka. It has been a long time since I posted last. In this summer vacation, I travel through western Japan: Kumamoto, Moji ( Fukuoka ), Naoshima, Osaka, Nagoya, Shizuoka. I will talk about one of the most exciting memories.

I visited Kakegawa-Katyoen (the place to see many flowers and birds) in Shizuoka with my friend. Birds are so lovely for me that I wanted go there.

In Katyoen, we can enjoy with birds. For example, it has a show by falcons and falconers ("Takajo" in Japanese, someone who trains falcons to hunt). Falconers make falcons fly over our heads. Audience is fascinated with their powerful flies and found that falcons are so cool.

After the show, I could touch a penguin and take pictures with it!! It was so soft and warm.

Besides we can feed cute birds ― ducks, parakeets, emus, and so on. Why don't you play in Katyoen, when you come to Shizuoka?
