I went to see a performance my friend participated in at Yokohama with my sister. The performance "NO FUTURE/YES FUTURE" was held by Dristers Summer School that is a class run by leading teachers and passionate students. Students are divided into four groups - dance, building, clothes, and advertisement. But they don't have a producer. In other words, all of them are producers, so their performance includes not only one idea but every idea. A performance we have never seen was born because it is very difficult and troublesome to make something by everyone.
It is not a play or a musical. Dancers don't play their own roles and there is not a hero or a heroine. That puzzles audience, "What is happening?", because it is a new style performance. I don't know how to explain it. But I think it is "a story which don't have a hero", that is, "a life". Future is a Life, I think so through "NO FUTURE/YES FUTURE".

Wow! I'm surprised and excited since I read your blog. I understand Madoka was practiced to this performance so she couldn't came a class. She is so cool and so wonderful. I become a fan of her. I want to watch her performance very much.

ReplyDeleteThis is Ms. MacGregor. This video reminds me of a short film I watched at the Sapporo Short Film Festival in September. It was about a boy and a deaf girl and how they connected through music and dancing. These are interesting images and I like the music in this video.
